You may ask, “How does my wellness develop the organization”? Organizations are made
up of people unless it is an organization of only machines. However, even if this was the case a human most likely made the robot so there is still a human link to even an organization ran by robots.
Organization development is defined by the OD Network as an “effort to increase organization effectiveness and health through planned interventions in the organization “processes” using behavioral-science knowledge” (odnetwork.org). By offering a wellness program and creating a culture that clearly values such a program the organization is providing the mechanism for an employee to participate in strengthening their physical, mental and spiritual well-being. This creates a win-win situation for the employee and the organization. The organization has an employee that is more present and resilient for day-to-day work requirements. The employee is better able to manage demands (often resulting in stress reactions) experienced by work, family and community.
A human being is a complex system of systems all interacting and interdependent on each other. In order to keep that complex being optimally functioning it needs to be cared for with proper nutrition, real food and exercise. That care begins with self-care by the individual. The proper nutrition, “real food” is the fuel and the physical exercise is the strengthening, together they create the possibility for an individual to be mentally and physically connected and strong. This leads the individual to be better prepared to meet all the demands of the work place, their community and their family.
